PH, Czech Republic Celebrate Friendship and Strengthen Labor Ties

MANDALUYONG CITY — The Philippines and the Czech Republic reaffirmed their commitment to ethical and safe labor migration during the opening of Friendship Week on May 20, 2025, held at the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Central Office.
“The Czech Republic has become the vital partner in Europe with shared democratic values, mutual commitment, safe, ethical, and dignified labor migration and with over 7,000 Filipinos currently worked across there, their contributions are valued and respected,” said DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac.
Czech Ambassador Karel Hejč thanked the DMW for its warm hospitality and continued cooperation, noting that the Czech Republic, a European Union member state, upholds high standards in labor, healthcare, and social protection.
“As a member state of the European Union, Czech Republic has one of the highest standard of labor works, healthcare, and social protection in the 7world, while Philippines is one of the two leading countries that Czech Republic has the program for skills employment,” said Ambassador Hejč.
The DMW and the Czech Embassy emphasized the importance of establishing holistic support systems for the more than 10,000 Filipino workers contributing annually to the Czech economy.
The event featured cultural exhibits, an interactive “Kamustahan” session with OFWs, and a game segment with OFW Georgie Ann Regencia of the Philippine Eagles Women’s National Ice Hockey Team, who has represented the Philippines for 15 years.
As part of the celebration, a job fair will be held on May 21 at Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas, with accredited Czech employers offering roles in manufacturing, logistics, transportation, and service industries, with basic salaries ranging from €2,000 to €3,000.
