DMW DISTRIBUTES PHP 3.5M FINANCIAL AID TO OFWS FROM NCR

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) distributed approximately ₱3.5 million in financialaid to 67 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the National Capital Region (NCR) through its AKSYON Fund, a support system for OFWs and their families in need of immediate assistance.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco led the distribution during a ceremony on March 24, 2025, at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City.

The Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund is a special allocation fund designed to provide urgent aid to OFWs facing various challenges abroad and to support their families back home.

“Hindi nagiging issue ngayon yung pagbibigay ng tulong pinansyal, legal, o medical assistance sa ating mga OFWs because of the full support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., at ng ating Kongreso to protecting their rights and welfare. The AKSYON Fund is our comprehensive support system to help our OFWs and their families in need,” Cacdac said.

In addition, Frasco highlighted the DMW’s dedication to OFWs, recalling its crucial role in repatriating nearly 9,000 OFWs to Cebu during the pandemic when she was mayor.

“On a personal note though, the work of the DMW, and OWWA in particular, has had a great impact on our communities in the country as well as having impacted the rest of the world. So thank you, Sec. Hans, for the work that you and your team have been doing and on a bigger scale, thank you to the DMW,” Frasco said.

Beyond financial aid, the AKSYON Fund also covers legal, medical, and repatriation assistance, including evacuation, rescue operations, and other emergency interventions to uphold the rights and dignity of OFWs.

This latest distribution coincides with National Women’s Month and reinforces the DMW’s commitment to protecting the well-being of OFWs, who remain vital contributors to the Philippine economy.
