DMW Chief Visits Wake of OFW’s Child Killed in NAIA Accident, Extends Aid to Family

Lipa City, Batangas — Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac on Monday evening visited the wake of four-year-old Malia Kates Yuchen G. Masongsong, daughter of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), who died in a tragic vehicular accident at the departure area of NAIA Terminal 1 on May 4, 2025.
Malia was the only child of Danmark Soriano Masongsong, an OFW employed as an assembly line operator in the Czech Republic. He was set to return to work overseas when the accident occurred.
“Naririto po kami, inatasan ng Pangulo para ipaabot ang kaniyang pangangamusta at panalangin at siguraduhing maibigay ang lahat ng inyong pangangailangan,” Cacdac said, also to convery President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s condolences and message of support to the grieving family.
Before visiting the wake, the Secretary also met with Danmark’s wife Cynthia and mother Edith at the hospital. Both were injured in the accident. Cacdac offered prayers and support, and both women expressed gratitude for the government’s presence during their time of grief.
DMW, through its Migrant Workers Office in Prague, has coordinated with Danmark’s overseas employer to explain his current situation and ensure understanding of his temporary absence. DMW assured the family of continued assistance in the coming days.
