Chill Philippines, Chill Kaohsiung Festival: celebrating the diverse cultures in Taiwan

When people think of Taiwan, often what comes to mind are the beautiful tourist spots, its bustling night markets, techno centric malls, or its High Speed Rail (HSR) Train System. Most of these can be found at the country’s capital, Taipei. But this 2025, a different part of Taiwan is getting a chance at the spotlight. This year, to showcase the vigorous energy of diverse cultures, and provide a venue for celebration and unification for all people, the Kaohsiung city government proudly launched the first ever Chill Kaohsiung, Chill Philippines event which centered around engaging with the various foreign communities in Kaohsiung. So how did this event come to be? Will it now become a yearly thing? And will there be more events like it to follow in the near future? Find out on this episode of the Bantay OCW straight from Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
