18 OFWs Repatriated Safely Amid Middle East Conflict

Pasay City, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have successfully repatriated 18 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The group arrived safely at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on June 16, 2025.

The OFWs were originally bound for Tel Aviv, Israel, and Amman, Jordan but were stranded in Dubai due to the temporary closure of major airports across the region. The DMW, through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai, provided immediate food and airport assistance before the workers boarded Philippine Airlines Flight PR 659 on June 15.

Upon arrival, the repatriated OFWs received financial aid through the DMW’s AKSYON Fund, along with airport reception and continued support from a whole-of-government team led by DMW and OWWA.

The National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) will assist the returnees with upskilling, livelihood support, and possible redeployment.

The DMW also urges OFWs in Israel, Iran, and neighboring areas to remain indoors, stay connected with Philippine embassies or MWO offices, and avoid spreading unverified information that may incite panic.

In partnership with the DFA and Department of National Defense (DND), the DMW continues to track developments closely to ensure swift government response and preparedness for further repatriation if necessary.

The DMW, in close coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), continues to monitor the regional situation and has activated a 24/7 Middle East Help Desk to assist affected OFWs and their families.
