DMW, PH Embassy in Tel Aviv Mobilize Relief for OFWs Affected by Iranian Strike

Tel Aviv, Israel — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, has mobilized urgent relief efforts and assistance for 14 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by an Iranian missile strike that hit a residential building in Rehovot, a city approximately 20 kilometers south of Tel Aviv.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the DMW to prioritize the safety and well-being of Filipino workers in the region amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

“Fortunately, thank God at walang nasawi. However, may apat na na-ospital. Labing-apat ang natulungan natin. Nabigyan ng basic needs at financial assistance. This is a continuing effort to provide all the necessary assistance to our Kababayans as directed by our President,“ said Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac.

The DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) continue to monitor the medical condition of one critically injured OFW, as well as others who sustained minor injuries in the blast.

Eight of the affected OFWs have been relocated to a temporary shelter for safety. Five others remain with their employers, while one has opted to stay with a friend. The DMW-Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Philippine Embassy are working closely to provide food, medical care, and secure shelter. The DMW is also on heightened alert for any needed rescue, evacuation, or repatriation efforts.

“Rest assured, ayon sa pangunahing direktiba ng ating Pangulong Marcos Jr. na tulungan ang mga OFWs na apektado ng anumang sigalot, most especially itong ongoing na hidwaan between Israel at Iran. Patuloy tayong magbibigay ng tulong. Also, sa Lebanon, we are monitoring the situation in full coordination with our MWOs and the Philippine Embassies,” Secretary Cacdac said.

The DMW affirmed its commitment to ensure the protection and welfare of all Filipino workers abroad during times of conflict and instability.
