Sakripisyo ng mga inang OFW, kinilala maging ng mga dayuhan
Either you struggle to get by wishing for a better life, or you sacrifice the privilege of watching your children grow up in order to give them one. This is indeed the hardest choice a parent could make. But, painfully, due to the harsh reality of their circumstances, countless mothers need to choose the latter.
One can only imagine the sadness of these self-sacrificing women as they work tirelessly to provide for the family they left behind, carrying on despite knowing their children will face the difficulties of life without them.
It was only through the invention of smartphones and video call apps that a more visual way of communication was made available. A convenience that allowed OFW mothers to cross the virtually border separating them from their children. But even this is not enough to substitute for the presence of a maternal figure.
So how does the years apart affect the relationship between OFWs and their loved ones? What are the effects of growing up without the nurture of a mother? And what do OFW mothers take solace in during their lonely years overseas?
