Pananagutan ng mga manning agencies sa seafarers

The life of a seafarer is filled with dangers. Every day they face tasks that can potentially endanger their lives and the lives of their crew mates. They must constantly be on alert for the unexpected and maintain absolute focus.

However, when calamity does strike it is up to manning agencies to support these brave seafarers and provide them with the assistance they rightfully deserve. But what responsibilities are manning agencies liable for? To what extent can they provide support? And what complications can arise from lack of action from seafarers?

Attorney Dennis Gorecho shares with the Bantay OCW some of the problems that many seafarers face when it comes to medical compensation in the profession of seafaring.
